Bobby Keys was about as close as a sideman has ever come to being a 'proper' Stone. Thanks, Bobby, for those honking sax parts on Brown Sugar, Bitch, Rocks Off, and Happy.

According to Keef's book, when Bobby was having his troubles with drugs Jagger didnt want him in the band but Keef loved him and insisted he was in. Keef refers to him in the book as being his musical twin having been born only hours apart, his twin separated by 3000 miles

That was part of my enjoyment of the Stones at Hyde Park, when they introduced the cast on stage. When Bobby was introduced I shouted 'Legend!' and they payed 'Bitch'. Still a legend, jamming with Clarence in the Great Gig. R.I.P (this joint.)

Alto Reed, Bob Seger's great saxman posted on FB last night that he would be playing that great intro to Turn The Page in Bobby's honor last night. Class move.

Bugger. Not a good week for friends of the Stones. Farewell, Mac, and thanks for all the great music, especially with the Faces, both Small and large.

Very sad. Always came across as a great guy. I only got to see him as part of Dylan's band in the early 80s but that was a great band so I count myself lucky to have been there.

This is just awful news. He graciously posed for this low light selfie with me on April 10, 2014.

Sadly, this thread is seemingly becoming busier by the week. Mac provided some of the iconic riffs of the 60s and 70s. My Friday night was always kicked off to the sound of Tin Soldier. The stirring organ and crescendo vocals were just the thing to get me in the party spirit. Saw him a couple of years ago with the Faces and he was still in great form. RIP Ian and thank you.

Rod must be kicking himself now that he never did The Faces reunion. If he's not, then I volunteer to do it for him. Jules

This is so sad. Another part of the soundtrack of my life gone. The Small Faces were one of my favourite bands as a teenager in the mid 60s. I vividly remember seeing them live in Hinckley, Leics, in 1966. I was only thinking about it a week or so ago. Odd how things pop into your mind.
