Bob Birch, Elton John's longstanding bassplayer, 56, apparently a suicide.
How sad. Btw, for fans: RAdio2 are repeating Elton John's 2007 concert on Thursday this week.

it's on his Wikipedia entry. Shame - I'm a big fan of his voice RIP Scott Yes, he was one of the sounds of 1967, peace, love and and all that stuff we believed in. Thank you Scott (and John Phillips too) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bch1_Ep5M1s

I saw him live, in Torquay, in the sixties.
So did I. At the Princess Theatre.

R.I.P. Joe South. I've got two of his songs as cover versions, Hush by Deep Purple, and Down In The Boondocks by Ry Cooder.

Big Jim Sullivan who played on a vast number of records that have become the fabric of our lives. I read a fascinating interview with him just a couple of months back. He played on so many huge hits that he didn't even remember he was on some them when he heard them! Only 71.

I caught the news in the "i" today, there is probably a good obituary in the Daily Telegraph, they did a superb one for Richie Hayward. What a brilliant session musician Jim was.
