Sad news. He is rendered immortal by the gorgeous guitar part in Wings' My Love, a solo which McCartney did not initially trust him to create but by which he was left speechless. Macca has fulsomely credited McCullough ever since. I might play the much maligned (but actually mostly rather lovely) Red Rose Speedway album later in memory. |

Gorgeous indeed. Pity the rest of the song is so awful. To me his best work is certainly not in Wings, but then I don't think anybody's was, except maybe Linda. And personally I prefer her sausages... |

Gorgeous indeed. Pity the rest of the song is so awful. Harsh. A classic smoocher, given half a chance.  I grew up on Wings and will defend much, though by no means all, of their output. Unfortunately I don't know a lot of Henry's other work apart from a few Grease Band tracks. Was he in the band when they played at Woodstock with Cocker? Sadly I have never heard Spooky Tooth at all. |

He was, and on the first Cocker-less album, I think. Wiki informs me he was the lead guitarist on the original recording of Jesus Christ Superstar which I never knew... |

I once had a lift from Henry's Dad when hitch hiking up to Belfast - was when he was playing with Wings - his Dad was inordinately proud of him.
Told Henry that years later when he was playing in Belfast - he said his Dad had always given him a hard time about playing "loud music with no tunes" and told him to get a proper job. Always the way with Dads !!!
Last news I heard is that he is hanging on still but does not look good.

He had just returned home from the first leg of the band’s North American tour and suffered a massive Instantaneous Cerebral Haemorrhage while dining at his home in Surrey, England Monday night. He was rushed to hospital where doctors declared his condition irreversible and terminal. He passed away at 11:06 pm GMT, surrounded by his family without having regained consciousness.
