Judy has informed of Alvin lees passing aged a young 68 .. O he of Ten Years After fame

I knew Alvin ever so slightly back in the 60s (Yes I am that old) We moved in similar circles He was at that tender young age a very nice lad very talented and very committed to music even at school. He is older than me. A lot of my time then was in the Bowling Alley and he played there in the club.

He and TYA filled the Albert Hall in Nottingham (At that time the biggest venue in the city outside of the theatre) This would be in 1968 I think . We were seated behind the band up near the church organ. There was a roadie wrestling with a Carlsbro Amp trying to keep it sitting on the Speaker stack because it was dancing around. I think that was the first time I saw the TYA band. I followed them fairly closely for two or three years . They were brill and Alvin even then was a brilliant musician.

I have one or two LPs that i will be playing at a suitable volume .. I know he is making heavenly music somewhere

Didn't appreciate Trad Jazz so much when I was younger, but Kenny Ball was always a smiling face on early 60's TV, so obvious that he was really enjoying what he was doing. I shall have to dig up a copy of Midnight in Moscow.

Me neither.  He must have been younger than I thought he was back in the day.  Maybe it was that 'tache.
