Richie Havens, aged 72.

Bollox.  Where did you hear that, Robert...?

Sorry  to butt in; it was on the 7am news today. So sad; such a great voice.

I've loved his stuff from first seeing him in the Woodstock film and then live at the Dylan IOW Festival. But somehow or other his career just managed to keep below the level of super-stardom that he really deserved. He was always there, he was always respected and admired. Never heard anyone have a bad word to say about him. I wonder if he ever thought he was just missing out, or was he satisfied with what he achieved.

It's still a sad day...

Caught him at a Crystal Palace garden party in 1971. Wonderful , RIP Richie.
Thought he would have been older than 72.

Caught him on an old music programme on BBC iPlayer just the other day - thought it was an old TOTP, but probably unlikely.

He was a passionate peformer and I can still recall that iconic Woodstock appearance - I also thought he'd be older.

RIP

Getting reports that National Resonator guru and guitarist extraordinaire Bob Brozman has died at 59 - very sad, saw him in concert about 10 years ago - his talent and approach to the instrument were from another place entirely, RIP Mr Brozman...

Oh no! A true originator and the many and varied projects he was a part of over the years were always interesting. I was just listening to his project Songs Of The Volcano, with guitar bands from New Guinea just the other day. This is really sad to hear.

Actually, unsure if he and RT ever played together but I remember saying once about him that he should have been part of French Frith Kaiser Thompson.....it would have worked.

I stood at the next stall to him in the Gents in a Nashville club once in the 70's.

Given his fondness for the sauce,a fairly respectable age.

I seem to recall a story about him driving to a bar on a ride on lawn mower after his car keys had been confiscated.

George Jones was an absolute legend.  A huge influence on Gram Parsons for one.  Great singer.  RIP.
