Just remembering Sandy singing "When Will I be Loved" on the album No More Sad Refrains. It is off the Bunch - Rock On I think and also the no more sad refrains compilation. Really great harmonies from two great singers. Yes, that duet with Linda Thompson.

RIP Phil Everly - We had the pleasure of seeing them appear as the special guests of Simon and Garfunkel at the Frank Erwin Center on my 40th birthday in 2004. To my knowledge, that was the only time in my adult life I was within 500 miles of an Everly Brothers appearance.
I remember they played only four songs - according to the setlist I dug up online, they were: ´Wake Up Little Susie´´All I Have to Do is Dream´ ´Let It Be Me´ and ´Bye Bye Love´ [joined by Simon and Garfunkel]
I will never forget hearing "All I Have to Do is Dream," just the two of them with acoustic guitars, singing to 10,000 hushed fans in an echoey basketball arena.

Pete Seeger What a shame. He seemed indestructible but it was a mighty innings.

A good innings indeed. And a great contribution to the folk world.

A great man, a great life and a tremendous inspiration. Can't think of anyone who gets close to his spirit, charm and persistence, not to mention his musical contribution.

Pete Seeger was my introduction to folk and whilst he "had a good innings" I am sadder than I could ever imagine today

I'm really sad at this mornings news. Pete has been such an influence to so many lives. Not just hundreds, or thousands. Many millions would be more like it.
He reached out to me, a kid in mid teens, in the mining town of Castleford, all the way from America. He had a universal appeal. He had an energy that few will ever match. Rest in peace.

Having never heard of Bill and only heard Little Boxes by Pete, as a schoolboy I found a live album by Pete and Big Bill Broonzy in the cheap racks. It was wonderful and I still have it.
RIP Pete.

I didn't realise until I heard an obit on him earlier just how much of his music I know - and had sung heartily when I was (much) younger
RIP Mr Seeger

A friend in America wrote this earlier today. Sadness at the passing of Pete Seeger is to be expected. He seemed so invincible, fighting every injustice at every turn, the strength of the community. However, we also will celebrate the joy of life that was, AND IS, Pete Seeger. Peaceful rest, Pete. We celebrate you and your life through every song we sing that you introduced us to, wrote or found. Make a joyful noise, world, make a joyful noise!

Never considered myself a fan but reading about his back catalogue I realise that his music touched my life in a major way.
RIP Pete, a good innings and some fine songs.

Jeremy Vine honoured Pete Seeger by playing "Where Have All The Flowers Gone?" today. Then he dishonoured Pete by talking over the final line. Arlo Guthrie wrote:
Pete Seeger:
I usually do a little meditation and prayer every night before I go to sleep - Just part of the routine. Last night, I decided to go visit Pete Seeger for a while, just to spend a little time together, it was around 9 PM. So I was sitting in my home in Florida, having a lovely chat with Pete, who was in a hospital in New York City. That's the great thing about thoughts and prayers- You can go or be anywhere.
I simply wanted him to know that I loved him dearly, like a father in some ways, a mentor in others and just as a dear friend a lot of the time. I'd grown up that way - loving the Seegers - Pete & Toshi and all their family.
I let him know I was having trouble writing his obituary (as I'd been asked) but it seemed just so silly and I couldn't think of anything that didn't sound trite or plain stupid. "They'll say something appropriate in the news," we agreed. We laughed, we talked, and I took my leave about 9:30 last night.
"Arlo" he said, sounding just like the man I've known all of my life, "I guess I'll see ya later." I've always loved the rising and falling inflections in his voice. "Pete," I said. "I guess we will."
I turned off the light and closed my eyes and fell asleep until very early this morning, about 3 AM when the texts and phone calls started coming in from friends telling me Pete had passed away.
"Well, of course he passed away!" I'm telling everyone this morning. "But that doesn't mean he's gone."
