I only knew of him as a member of the Barely Works, and an amazing hammered dulcimer player. I wasn't aware of all his later activities. Sad news, but thanks for posting.

Jerry Corbitt of the Youngbloods, which he founded with Jesse Colin Young.

Corbitt left the Youngbloods in 1969 before the recording of Elephant Mountain to work on a solo career. His first success came in 1971 touring with Charlie Daniels in the duo Corbitt and Daniels. While he did record a couple of solo albums, his main work from the 70's on was in production, starting with Don McLean's Castles in the Air and going on to work with such artists as Pete Seeger, Buffy St. Marie, Janis Ian, Charlie McCoy, Ramblin' Jack Elliot, Joy of Cooking, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee, Felix Pappalardi and many others. He also worked on numerous movies, TV shows and commercials. - http://www.vintagevinylnews.com

Jesse wrote in Facebook:

Jerry Corbitt is gone from this world. We lost him this weekend. He left peacefully and willingly having lost a long battle with lung cancer. He was my best friend and I miss him. There seems to be a hole in my life now and I'm trying to fill it with memories of him and all the adventures we shared creating the Youngbloods.
I just watched Jerry singing Grizzly Bear on the Dick Clark show. That was the fall of 1966. He is so young and handsome and his voice so strong in that video, strong as his love of ragtime music learned from the old folk guitar masters. We still lived in New York when the first album came out but we were destined to play the Avalon Ballroom in the Spring of 1967 and head west that next September. We caught the leading edge of the summer of love and knew we belonged in San Francisco.
Jerry and I drove my funky little Valiant across the country together. We were so excited and full of the dreams of a new life in the hills of West Marin. What a time! It has all happened way to quickly. And now I shall have to press on without him. But this video is how I will remember him....young and strong and full of dreams. And I will carry the strength of our friendship with me always.

Now it really has to be time to call a halt to the reunited Stooges, surely?

Iggy said several years ago that The Stooges died with Scott's brother Ron Asheton in 2009. The current band is Iggy and the Stooges which, admittedly, is a fine distinction. Toby Dammit took over on drums after Scott's stroke in 2011.

I just realised I've seen Toby a few times drumming with Iggy in the years before he reformed the Stooges. He also goes by the name of Larry Mullins.  Sad to hear of Scott's passing though. I hadn't heard about him having a stroke.

Me either.  Or that he hadn't been playing in The Stooges of late.  I guess this means that the show will go on after all.

Last I was reading (can't remember where) was that Iggy had left the Stooges who've just recorded a lot of post-Raw Power stuff but put it out under Williamson's name?  The law of diminishing returns in all its glory...  Scott was a top drummer.  RIP.
