Time to say goodbye to the Stranger on the Shore. Acker Bilk has died at the age of 85.

RIP

Vivid memories of watching the tv prog and rushing out to buy the ep of the music... I even ended up living in Brighton.  A profound effect on my life. Rip indeed.

Acker's playing on Sandy's Full Moon complimented her voice superbly, making it one of my favourite of her songs. An icon of his times. May he RIP.

Stranger on the Shore was part of the soundtrack to my childhood - mainly because my brother played clarinet and seemend to be constantly practising that piece for some school concert or another.

Rick The Bass Player and Joe Walsh autographed my copy of "Got Any Gum?" at Harmony House records in Austin, back in 1987 or 1988.  Rick was very pleasant, chatting with all the folks standing in line to get Joe's autograph.

Sad Shame. One of those ' I can remember where I first heard it' records. I was prone to loving the funky bassline anyway, but the vocal delivery was something new and it grabbed my attention. R.A.P.
