Given his role as collaborator of Steeleye Span, it only seems right to mark the passing of one of the funniest and wisest of writers in Terry Pratchett. It doesn't seem right that in future there won't be the Christmas tradition of a new Discworld novel to unwrap. The world is a much duller place today

Not unexpected but still a shock.
Thanks for all the inspired lunacy, Daevid. Condolences to Gilly, Orlando & all the Gong family.
Glid forever...

RIP Mike Porcaro : Toto's immaculate bassist from 1982-2007 until his retirement from touring due to symptoms of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), very sad news...

So young too! Andy was always young for everything he achieved, but it just seems cruel for death to be part of that trend. RIP. Jules

Not been the best last 6 months for bass players. Two of the best now passed. RIP Andy.

Very sad. Talented musician and co-writer of one of the most memorable songs in British rock history

Free were one of the first bands I ever saw live, 1971. I'v e been unable to like them ever since, due to circumstances I detailed elsewhere in these boards. Basically I was turned off them by a mate who was a fanatic and literally (and I really do mean literally) never stoppped talking about the group. I still respect rather than like their music. A few years ago i read an interview with Andy Frazer, and learned there, and through an online discussion, that he'd been HIV for some time, and his health was at risk, thoug he was still very active in music. It's still strange to me that there's this contrast between his sexuality-- apparently he was actively gay and/or bisexual for most of his liefe - -and the image of FRee, a hard rockin', girl grabbin' bunch of guys. Rip Andy. YOur attitude in that interview impressed me.

Yep i was t that show as well, great bass player though i dont think he's looked a well man for a long time I was at the same gig. Small world I think the first time I saw them was at the Hollywood Festival in 1970 (near Stoke on Trent, not California) and many times after that. Loved their music. In my minds eye I'm still dancing to their music. Another part of my 70's contemporaries gone RIP Andy.
