I never found much in Lemmy's music that appealed to me, but oh boy, did I admire his attitude. I'd say RIP, but I don't think thats what he would want us to say. Have a good **** off you old (insert appropriate words)...

Sad news about Lemmy, but he made it to 70, must have had an amazing constitution.
RIP Ian x
Yes, 70 is a good innings for one who had such a rock n roll life.

62 but it's still far too young I was (still am) a huge fan of the Specials - I'd love to see them at Cropredy. RIP John x

Just heard this. Such sad news, particularly for a Cov Kid like myself. John's drumming was so important to The Specials music and the whole Two Tone sound. Sad day!

Losing one great is bad enough but two on the same day.
Thanks Lemmy and John for the good times over the years.

Andy M Stewart of Silly Wizard. Terrific voice. When I was getting into folk music 30 odd years ago, Silly Wizard were the tops. Never saw them live but have several albums still as well as some solo work of his. The By The Hush album from 1983 or thereabouts is an absolutely stunning album I must get on CD one of these days.
I missed that at the time. Love his voice, both with Silly Wizard and his solo stuff. His Fire In The Glen album (with Phill Cunningham and Manus Lunny) is a big favourite of mine.

Lemmy. Never thought you would make it to 70 but you did it! Put your feet up and rest in peace brother.
Is it insensitive to wonder why Ticketmaster have just offered tickets for Motorhead in the "Hot Tickets" section of an email today?

I doubt there is any human input into these emails, they are probably automatically generated from a database. A friend of ours bought her son Motorhead tickets for Christmas. He is absolutely devastated. Paul

Pianist Paul Bley and composer/conductor Pierre Boulez, both of whom pushed the musical envelope in their own ways. If I was Pete Brown, I'd be worried...

Although The Easybeats are probably best known outside Australia for Friday On My Mind, they had many more hits in their home country, and Stevie Wright went on to have a solo career that was successful for several years, until sidetracked by drug abuse. He was also one of the victims of a controversial "deep sleep therapy" by a certain infamous doctor, which saw patients put to sleep for days and weeks at a time. Some died and some brains were damaged as a result, and Stevie wasn't quite the same afterwards either. He'd booked in to try to beat his heroin addiction. This was in the mid 1970s. Some comeback attempts were made afterwards with varying, lesser degrees of success. More arrests for theft and drugs. He became more a figure of tragedy, though was always respected as one of the great frontmen of the 60s and possibly Australia's first international rock star. Better remembered that way. And this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drNqZWzj5GYAt least now, the fake "Easybeats" that surfaced in the 2000s in Europe with no links to the real band and a lead singer who called himself "Steve Wright" can't try that trick any more.....

Sky is reporting that David Bowie has died, aged 69, from cancer. Apparently confirmed by his management. RIP David.

Well, what is there to say? More than anyone else we have lost in the interim I feel a sense of loss much like the one I felt for John Lennon. The circumstances are very different of course and I am no longer 16 years old as I was then. But once again I have been woken by the news and had to process it in a semi conscious state. Once again I had been listening to his new record just the previous day. And once again it is going to be a day when it is difficult to fully focus on work.
I don't even know where to start in paying tribute. Goodbye David and thank you.
