In my opinion he came over as quite an unpleasant guy from reading his autobiography. I was glad not to have crossed his path...

A slightly younger version of Ronnie Biggs?
Less morally questionable. Yet I still wonder why everyone gives so much of a f*** about a drug dealer. Jules A sort of Folk Hero for the counterculture, I suppose, Jules i've no strong feelings about him either way, but am wary of being too charitable, as he associated with some murderous organisations in his time. He must have used a very long spoon indeed.

Victoria Wood at the shockingly young age of 62. I've put her in this thread as she did do humorous songs. Always liked her and "Acorn Antiques" was hilarious.

Fresh rumor from TMZ. Desperately hoping it's not true.

It is getting hard to know what to say about all of this.
I am a casual Prince fan at best with only Greatest Hits in my collection but I did attend one of his run of shows at the O2 a few years back and boy, could the fella put on a show. Great gig. And Sign of the Times is, for me, an all time great single/song.

What Gub said. Saw him live. Jimi will always be the mist visceral guitarist I ever saw but Prince, when he put the showmanship down and just played, ran him damn close.

I've been saying this elsewhere...I heard a couple of aftershow gig recordings a few years back and the guitar playing was extraordinary, truly. Never really got his released stuff...I 'liked' it, 'admired' it, but never really loved it. A bit like (most) Bowie for me.
