Harry Sievey, 24, son of the late Chris Sievey, genius and aka Frank Sidebottom.
Harry was killed riding his bike in a car accident.
Harry was also a guitarist and seemed to be building up to something in music.

So young...so sad.

Tony Davis.....yes, I grew up with the Spinners music. It was an intro into the world of music that I started to explore.

Although I grew up on Merseyside, I only saw the Spinners once in concert - at the Southport Theatre (the posh side of the Floral Hall); the following year (1975)I saw another "folkie" at the same venue - Aj Webber.  She was the support artist for Kraftwerk!  Shocked

The Spinners copped a lot of flak for their style, but they certainly had a deep love and respect for traditional music.

I thought the first 30 minute programme was a little bit of a snigger.  Every subsequent outing has made the entire one-trick pony idea less and less amusing.  Thank God, that's finally it.

And back in the real world....

Or perhaps no longer in it, Peter Skellern from a brain tumour.

Not exactly rock n roll but I always rather liked You're A Lady.

quotes from Wiki -

Quote
In October 2016 he was ordained as a priest of the Church of England.

Quote
In October 2016 it was revealed that Skellern had developed an inoperable brain tumour and that he had fulfilled a lifelong calling to be ordained in the Church of England. Under a special faculty from the Archbishop of Canterbury, he was ordained both as a deacon and priest on 16 October 2016 by the Bishop of Truro.[7] Skellern died as a result of the brain tumour in February 2017 at the age of 69.

He & Richard Stilgoe were a class act. RIP Peter

The lead singer of Oasis, indeed.  My parents loved him.

I remember Stilgoe and Skellern. Good entertainment. I liked the 'b' side of 'you're a lady', but can't remember it at the moment. It fitted the time. RIP?

He sang a song 'my brother took the morning flight, a747 whisked him out of sight' which always made my mother cry. Very poignant.

Ancient Muse and I were big Peter Skellern fans in the 70s. You're A Lady is still one of my favourite songs from that time, and he introduced me to the music of Hollywood and Fred Astaire, for which I will always be grateful  Smiley

Very sad to hear about Peter Skellen. Saw him live once Fairfield Halls Croydon , probably around 1973. Had his wonderful covers of Fred Astaire classics on cassette, think it was called "String of Pearls" , when l looked to replace it on CD a couple of years ago didn't seem available.Maybe l'll have another look.

It appears to have only ever been issued on CD in Germany in the 80s. Some copies available on Discogs for about £14. In fact most of his albums seem to be out of print on CD.
