John Geils Jr, the founder of The J Geils Band.
Also only just seen that Paul O'Neill, Trans-Siberian Orchestra died last week.

RIP the actual "J Geils."  Sad

J Geils Band has been on my bucket list for years. Mr. Geils himself quit sometime ago and sued to prevent the remaining members from touring under that name. He lost, so they still occasionally get together for a midwest/east coast jaunt.  For example, they opened for fellow Bostonians Aerosmith at Fenway Park a couple of years ago.

Because they are widely perceived to be a regional band, they never come south or west.  If I ever want to see Peter Wolf, Magic Dick, Seth Justman and Danny Klein do their thing, I'm going to have to travel.

RIP Joe Stead. I knew him as the man who ran and compared Tramshed Folk in Woolwich where I used to go every other Sunday night discovering many fine artists. Following his move to Yorkshire, he founded Kimber's Men, a very fine shanty group.  RIP mate.

Indeed, RIP Joe.

Interesting to note, in rhe comment beliw by Chris Roche, that Dave Bulmer of Celtic Music reknown, has also passed away. Didn't know that, I think. Anyobe know more?

I hope someone might try one last attempt to obtain his releases by negotiation with his estate. There's no point in the Estate not doing so, the executor will be charged with maximising the value

Dave Bulmer passed away in August 2013. I haven't seen any sign of negotiations with his estate or company/companies that he may have set up to handle the recordings.

Original Jamiroquoi keyboardist Toby Smith at the age of just 46. I admit I'm not a fan and know very little about Toby Smith, but that is a tragically young age to die - no details have been given regarding the cause of death.

Guitarist Allan Holdsworth. No cause given, but the family have confirmed his death.  Not my thing really, but very influential to the jazz community.

I dearly hope it is not true. There's really no way to know because, except for Gregg's official denial, he has kept his health information private (as is his right).
