That's sad. Lost track of De Dannan and its members but there was a time when they were right up there in the same breath as the other Irish traditional bands. Surprised he was 74 though.

I once spent a few hours in a local drinkery getting slightly pished with Bill. We discussed folk music for quite some time before I realised that he had been in the Albions and Home Service, and that he was who he was, and that we were related somewhere along the line, but the beers made it hard to figure out exactly where.

Top chap, R.I.P 'uncle' Bill.

A tremendous songwriter and very witty man. Many wonderful evenings being entertained by Bill in our folk club. I still have a recording of one of those nights which I will play in remembrance. Unicorns is a desert island track for me.

Not a musician as such (as far as I'm aware), but Donald "Jumbo" Vanrenen has passed away - he compiled loads of albums of African music, a fair few of which helped to open ears across the globe.  Sad

RIP Roy Bailey.

I'm sure I saw him with Tony Benn one year at a festival but am struggling to remember when and where. But 'tis a sad loss.

I saw them in 2008 at Stokes Bay, Hants. The year the Wickham Festival was temporarily moved.

I was there but couldn't get in as the tent was full. My wife hated that festival we camped and it blow a gale the whole weekend!

From a former resident of Sheffield R.I.P.

Condolences to Martin and Kit and the rest of the family.

Oh that is really sad. I have tickets to see the Buzzcocks, Skids and Penetration at the Royal Albert Hall in June next year. Not worried about the cost etc but sad that Pete won’t be there. Wonder what they and the venue will do?  Cry
