Roky was born and raised in Austin, and reportedly died here yesterday. I missed about 100 opportunities to see him play in the last decade or so, as he was all over town and so beloved by the local music media that every gig was well advertised. I kind of took him for granted. RIP

Sad indeed, a real nice human being as I recall. Brings back memories. I was managing/deal shopping a band that opened for him at the Whisky (79/80?) It was a 'big gig' for us, have a night pic of the sign outside the club somewhere..the poster's going for $75+!! wonder what i could get for it?

Mac Rebennack , Dr John, The Night Tripper. Gris Gris is one of my all time favourites. R.I.P and thank you.

In May 2015, I went to five shows in a week (a personal record that I will probably never exceed), with Dr. John sandwiched in between two massive Who concerts. In retrospect, it was his last show in Austin and I am very grateful that I took the time. RIP

I had the chance to see him for free years ago but didn't go for some reason. In retrospect, not my best decision... RIP Dr John

Only saw Dr John the once at the Royal Festival Hall some 25 years ago. The gig still resonates with me underlining his true quality. RIP Mr Rebannack

The man had great charisma. Saw him supporting BB King at the Festival hall some years go. Such a night! One of the best concerts I ever saw

Another upcoming artist in the same vein is Dale Storr who I’ve seen twice now. Well worth looking up although obviously has some way to go before he gets into the same bracket as Dr John

... whereas we did go that night and while St David's Hall was half empty, the man himself was brilliant. I'd have paid to see a concert that good. RIP .

A strong, inspirational woman and proud mom. Always good to the fans, very strict with Philo's rock star mates - 'Did ye wash yer hands Lemmy ? Go an' wash yer hands !', 'Sorry !'. You didn't mess with her, but she had a heart as big as the world. God bless yer, Philomena. xxxx

Very sad indeed. Such a great band, of which he was a huge part.

Not confirmed but I've seen on FB (on the Glastonbury Fayre 1971 page) that Dave Codling of Quintessence died yesterday.
