Julie Felix (John Roberts who was tour managing her in the UK and Ireland this summer has reported this on FB) at 81 due to a ruptured hernia, I believe.

Very sad news. I saw her at the New Forest Folk Festival in 2018 and she was still able to put on a brilliant performance which belied her 80 years.

That is sad. I was watching her on something very recently (contemporary footage not archive) though for the life of me I can't remember what.

Very sad news, I, too, met her at NFFF18 and she was completely self-effacing.

I saw her at the GBFF in 2018 and she was really enjoyable, very engaging. I also met her in the loo (!) when she was in the audience at Hitchin Folk Club (for Gigspanner). She was delightfully approachable, and charming. Very sad.

Very sad. I've been aware of her through her connection with the String Band.

Very sad news - I have great memories of her appearances at a couple of Southsea Folk & Roots Festivals and Titchfield Folk At The Abbey.
Her powerful version of Dylan's "Blowin' In The Wind" (updated to include references to then-leaders Bush and Blair) will stay with me for a long time. She was also the only musician I've seen brave enough to tackle the legendary epic "Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands" in full onstage. RIP Julie...

Aah, that's sad. I used to enjoy her shows in the early years of BBC2.

Very sorry to hear about Julie Felix. People often talk about high profile people being approachable, but when I met her backstage at New Forest Folk Festival in 2018 it was actually her that came and spoke to me. She was very lovely and seemed genuinely interested in what I was up to.

I saw Julie Felix at the Topic folk club in Bradford, maybe fifteen years ago. She was amazing. Had this real aura about her. I didn't meet her afterwards but by all accounts she was lovely.

I have seen Julie Felix twice and both times her performances were brilliant. She had a great voice and sang with passion. Whether singing her own material or covering others, particularly Dylan and Leonard Cohen, she was a great vocalist and guitarist. Both concerts I got to speak to her and she always had time for her fans. Such sad news and regret not being able to see her at least one last time.

Saw her at Kimbles in Osborne Road Southsea in the mid 60's and on her TV shows thereafter. Nice lady.

I first saw her on TV, on The Frost Report singing Tom Paxton songs. Later on, on the news leading an Aldermaston march. I never met her but seeing her live in late the 70's in Colchester made you feel as if you had. Lovely lady.

I remember her on TV in the 60's - was it her own show? She always seemed very glamorous!
RIP Julie

Sad news re Manu Dibango. My friend, the DJ Sean French played his music when we were at Butlins Bognor in the 1970's.
