How weird to see those two together in this sad roll call? Time will show the wiser, indeed.

Tim Smith of The Cardiacs has died.

He's been ill for some time.

If you need the connection between Post-Punk and Radiohead, Tim and brother Jim were it.

Bless him.  So sad, and so relieved.  The last 12 years must have been so ghastly for him and those around him....

I found The Cardiacs rather late on, because I was listening to the later work of William D Drake. A selection of artists did a tribute album for the benefit Tim Smith, over a decade ago, when he was first ill.

This is Drake doing an arrangement of of a song that he did with Smith, but was never used. It's rather wonderful. Savour

Sad news. We saw him when he returned to musical performance with the Splinter Group in Guildford.

Love The Albertos albums but wouldn't have recognised him at the bar.

Very sad if confirmed (there doesn't seem to be much info at the moment).

Peter Green  Sad

The words 'genius' or 'legend' seem overdone these days, but...they suit Peter Green down to the ground

Just read on another forum that Charlie Harcourt, erstwhile Lindisfarne guitarist, has died.

He was an integral part of the Mark 2 band and was a member of the current line-up until ill-health prevented him from touring. After the original band reformed, he co-wrote This Has Got To End, King's Cross Blues and Warm Feeling with Ray Jackson for the Back & Fourth and The News albums.

He was a fine talent and, by all accounts, a very nice fellow.

Very underrated guitarist, Charlie. By all accounts, a lovely man, too.

He was involved in some Deep Purple recordings as well. Fleetwood Mac and many others, too. A huge contribution to rock music, both as producer and engineer.
