Very sorry to hear this. He was a bridge between Fairport & The Burritos. Made some fine LPs & played the judge on "Billy The Orphan Boy's Lonely Christmas" RIP. He was a 'special guest' at Crops a few years ago. Half the crowd probably didn't know who he was or that he had been on a FC album. |

We got to meet him and his wife at their magnificently restored castle, Towie Barclay in Aberdeenshire, on Nancy Covey's 2007 festival tour. He told us stories about RT, Sandy, Trevor, and the rest, jamming in the living room. R.I.P. |

In NYC Latin music circles, Pachecho was a massive name. What I love about most Fania records from the 70’s heyday is they sounded so great sonically. Even if your stereo is set to a lower number, they still leap out at you.

I once bought a Kurt Vonnegut novel from him. Well, I lived in San Francisco Bay Area during the 90s and I bought lots of books from his store, but his hands put my copy of Hocus Pocus in a paper bag. He was a proper icon, and City Lights is the best bookshop in the world. RIP Mr Ferlinghetti, and thanks Nick |
