Bob Fish, singer with Darts. Age 72
Oh that's a shame? Was he the lead singer? I always had a soft spot for Darts. He was the original leader of Darts, I recall, and the male tenor voice, but there were 3 other singer - Den Hegerty (Bass), Rita Ray and Griff Fender (who I think called himself by another name sometimes). A fun band. Great live act, although by the time I saw them (c1981) Bob Fish & Den Hegerty had left.

I shall break out my Darts anthology tomorrow in tribute.

He was one of the front four singers (and a damn good one at that), but I think Griff and Rita were the main driving forces, keeping them together after both Den and Bob Fish left. I have exchanged a few words with Den on FB via my association with The Mint Juleps (Rita and Griff were who got the Mint Juleps started off professionally). I too will have to play the Darts box set tomorrow in tribute...along with some 'Scratch' Perry.

Ron Bushy - erstwhile drummer of Iron Butterfly. https://ultimateclassicrock.com/ron-bushy-iron-butterfly-dead/I actually saw an IB reunion concert in L.A. in 1987, featuring I believe the entire original lineup. The same show featured a partially reunited Strawberry Alarm Clock and Rick Roberts from Firefall/The Flying Burrito Brothers Mark II. The '80s were generally unkind to music veterans of the 1960s, as I recall. RIP Mr. Bushy.

Heard on Wednesday that Robin Watson of Scottish folkies Gaberlunzie passed away from cancer.
The Gabs were an early 70s folk duo who met when they were City of Glasgow Polis and, after an ultimatum from the bosses to choose, decided to go full time as musicians. They toured non-stop until 3 years ago. I played on numerous gigs with them and they were flawlessly professional and could get a crowd going from the off. They influenced folk club and pub singers alike and produced a back catalogue of recordings and songs that have become standards.
A great loss to Scottish folk music

Heartbreaking news of Michael Chapman. From FB:
“Days pass so slowly In the valley of my time The trees sway so gently There is something on my mind Like a fly that buzzes 'round There's nothing I can do I guess it's just The memory of you” MC In The Valley 1970 It is with regret and indescribable sadness that we must tell all of his friends that Michael Chapman died earlier today at home. 24/01/1941 – 10/09/2021 Andru Chapman, Michael’s wife and inspiration will of course appreciate her privacy during this period of loss. Please raise a glass or two to a gentleman, a musician, a husband, a force of nature, a legend and the most fully qualified survivor

Oh no. That’s awful news, another hero gone. Only saw him once in Manchester in 2013 with Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore. He was amazing. RIP Michael.

Incredibly sad news. My wife Sam is a close friend of Marc Higgins who was Michael's manager for many years. We last saw Michael at the Cloudspotting festival. He was such a lovely bloke. RIP

Michael helped inspire my love of playing guitar which has enriched my life massively. Gutsier, blusier, gritier than so many of the singer songwriters of the 70s and sad he never quite found the success enjoyed by those with sweeter voices and gentler lyrics but offered a bland palate compared to him. At 18 I journeyed in an old Mini from Oxfordshire to Penzance to see him live for the first time.It was a memory I still treasure (not the night sleeping in the car in a layby after). i found him warm and encouraging when I plucked up the courage to talk to him. One of my heros gone, RIP Michael.

Lucky enough to catch Michael in concert many times over the years. Always had plenty of time for his fans, bless him.
