Awful, awful news about David Longdon.
As a fan, I feel numb I can't even imagine what his loved ones must be going through. Sincerest condolences to his family, friends and fellow fans.

RIP David Longdon. I went to the Anvil in Basingstoke back in 2018 to see Big Big Train's warmup gig for their forthcoming appearance at the Night Of The Prog festival in Loreley, Germany. I knew relatively little about their music at the time, but thoroughly enjoyed the show. [As an aside, that evening was particularly memorable for me, being the last time I encountered our marvellous Judy Dyble in the flesh, having a lovely chat with her in the bar before the concert.] My short and to the point review afterwards : "Big Big Train this evening were awesome, immense, and erm...big ! Exemplary prog rock...those due to attend Night Of The Prog at Loreley are in for a treat !" I've just seen this dreadful news. BBT are one of my favourite bands and I've wanted to see them live for such a long time. David was a great talent and will be sorely missed. Condolences to his family and friends at the sad time.

RIP Stephen Sondheim. Simply the greatest of all time. No one has ever given me as much pleasure in the theatre - Company, Follies, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, Gypsy, West Side Story. Felt so privileged to meet him at Cheltenham, he was a real gentleman.

Agree. Oh, and good joke too.  Robbie's bass playing crops up all over reggae records and beyond. Me too....totally flattened by this awful news. Loved the man and his music. And the Hits Just Keep on Comin' is one of my favourite ever albums. A true genius in the strictest sense of the word. RIP Mike. |
