Just a reminder to you all to set your alarm clocks at 6am tomorrow morning! (or don't forget to 'listen again' at a more respectable hour! ) http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01m2qgx

I'm afraid we couldn't get round to listening live but we set the tv recorder to record the whole show - Thank goodness for the 'about half past 8' prompt. I get the feeling that young Aled really does like Ralph - even if he does constantly remind Ralph that he grew up listening to Alphabet Zoo.

Turned on the car radio (R2) this afternoon about 4.30 and heard the familiar sounding voice of Ralph chatting away on Johnnie Walker's show. So, good ole listen again later. So where were those 'in the know' alerting us to this, come on keep up you lot! http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01mf8wg

Easily confused here... Havn't had chance to listen again yet but John are you saying it was an 'old' interview yesterday on JW show, therefore Alan, the 'new' album maybe his Songs for Six strings which as we know are slowly being released just to tease us all!

JJ, yesterday's broadcast was live (or at least the first broadcast). The Google alert I got pointed to an old show, so I did not pass on the 'news'.
Alan, you are right to be puzzled. The CD JW referred to is a promotional album of five songs on the theme of London and England for this Olympic year. "An English Heartbeat" will also be the title of Ralph's 2012 UK tour. The album was briefly available online as a download, but it seems it was not intended for public release.

I put the following in the Radio Times section on April 25 when this part of the board didn't exist. Now it's back, John suggested I put the interview up again, which I've just done - at https://rapidshare.com/files/553115698/RalphMcTellObscByApr242012edit.mp3 Again, it's only up for around 30 days, maybe someone can put it elsewhere after that...? --- I had the pleasure of interviewing Ralph McTell earlier today as he begins his latest Australian tour, and have just uploaded it to Rapidshare. Hear him talk about how he acquired his first Robert Johnson LP, his love for the guitar, why a farewell tour doesn't necessarily mean goodbye, why he wasn't very happy at the time with the French & Saunders "Trial Of Ralph McTell" skit ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIeAsOpavzE), and much more. Nearly 40 mins(!) - nearly 75MB - available for only around 30 days. The chat was conducted over the phone, Ralph in Sydney (I think!), me at the studios of www.threedradio.com in Adelaide.

Thanks, Michael; downloaded and listening now. I will transcribe it as discussed so we can put it somewhere permanent later.
