For those not on mailing list? In December 2013 Ralph performed at the Bert Jansch tribute concert, this was filmed as part of the programme "The Genius of Bert Jansch: Folk Blues and Beyond" we have just heard that this will be broadcast on BBC4 this Friday evening at 10pm, followed by Berts 60th filmed at St Lukes. Ralph will be appearing in both.

Ralph was the very first person I interviewed on radio, way back in 1987. I've just found the cassette and have put the audio up on the show blog: http://rootsandbranchesaustralia.wordpress.com/interviews/ralph-mctell-1987/Subjects include the songs Ralph had written for Fairport Convention, his songwriting method and disposal rate, the narrowness of commercial radio affecting the success of worthy musicians, his involvement with a couple of TV programs and more. |
