Beatles' US albums CDs set to majorly disappoint by not using all available US mix variants. Even allowing for the wish not to use fake stereo versions or "Dexterized" reverb-added versions, they should still have used all alternate pukka mixes. All they needed to do was do a little research on the internet. Next time, they should let the fans have a voice.  Jules Sadly, it appears the only thing that fans are required for, is to pay up... |

I have at long last got round to transferring my Beatles Remastered Mono into flac, and noticed that Yellow Submarine was missing. Seems that it was a straight mix down from the stereo version, so it's something I won't be buying for the fourth time... Correct - Yellow Submarine, Abbey Road, and Let It Be weren't mixed for mono, though some countries did sell mono versions that were simply folded down from the stereo. All of the Beatles songs from Yellow Submarine (though not the George Martin orchestral tracks) have been released in mono versions on The Beatles In Mono set anyway. Jules |

Genuine. Apple have seemingly vetoed issuing fold-downs, duophonic versions or other kinds of fake stereo for any recent Beatles CDs. Jules |

Me too and I'm a great Beatles fan. I also agree on the films. Unfortunately I think Macca probably doesn't want Let It Be to see a release because it shows the cracks in the Beatles relationships and the famous scene with George where he clearly is fed up with Macca's domineering. But I think it's a great film and is a real insight into how things were towards the end. The film contains some fabulous music which shows just how creative the Beatles could be even with things falling apart and I think all the Beatles show through as likeable, creative individuals but growing apart. The roof top concert is wonderful with that amazing version of Don't Let Me Down. Come on Macca, sign that release document! |
