Christmas is coming.

I quite fancy this but not at that price.

I used to have the '68 one.  Too scared to look how much that might be worth these days.  It does look like a very nice set.

At the moment, which I can sort of understand given the nature of this set.

Or even not-so-casual fans, to be honest.  I think most people who want more than just a compilation would stop after buying CDs (or downloads) of the core albums in stereo.  Anything after that is completist anorak territory.

Now where did I hang my "cagoule"?   Grin

That really is a good example of a product that you know you will probably only ever listen to once, at best, if you are a mad completist sucker, and recognise yourself as such.

I know I wouldn't play it at all if I bought it.
I've got the material in naughty 'collector's' form so I've heard it and I know I don't need to hear it again.
As it's vinyl, and new and minty-fresh and pristine, it wouldn't even make it out of the wrapper - it would remain on a shelf, looking at me, asking me to justify it's existence there, other than as an heirloom for grandchildren that are unlikely to ever actually be.

It's kinda nice though......

Pre-order your copy of Concert For George. Exclusive Deluxe Edition. Only $350.00 (via the George Harrison official site).

A unique opportunity to buy two ways each, of viewing or listening to the same show, all in the same package.

The book is interesting, not convinced about the bit of cloth though.

Not sure about the price tag on this one. I bought the regular-priced DVD when it first came out years ago, and it's a truly fabulous concert.

I don't know if this has been discussed elsewhere, but this is interesting.
I have my thoughts...

I have mixed feelings about this.  Part of me thinks "oh for God's sake, stop fiddling with the part of Beatles history that makes you feel so uncomfortable", and part of me thinks "hey, maybe they'll make a better movie than the original version".

Ideally they'd put out a box with both versions.  And more.  But I doubt that will happen.

Have just mentioned this on the Lennon thread.

White Album box. November 9th (a week after Dylan).

6 discs.

2 discs remastered album.
1 disc Esher demos
3 discs outtakes and rehearsals including songs from associated singles (but not the original singles themselves)

See, that's the problem. If you paraphrase that, you get "Let it be"...

They're saying there is 56 hours of unreleased material they can make a completely "new" film out of. Paul says "The overall feeling is very joyous and very uplifting. It’s like a bunch of guys making music and enjoying it"...

Really Huh? Maybe in a different version George won't say to Paul "I'll play whatever you want me to play. Or I won't play at all if you don't want me to play".

Let It Be is my least favourite Beatles LP.

Really?  Yellow Submarine is mine.

They can't pretend that the original film never came out.  Or that Paul and John never both fought with George.  Or that George never left.  Or that John never wanted to replace him with Clapton.  Or that John wasn't out of his head on smack.  Well, they can, but the truth is already well known, so stop trying to sell us the sanctified version of The Beatles.  We've already had 38 years of them doing that with John Lennon.  The dishonesty does nobody any favours.

Yes, just let it be.
