Some 2013 UK dates with Egbert Derix

March 2013
13th. Goldmark gallery. Uppingham. w/Egbert Derix
14th Bacup football club. w/Egbert Derix
15th. Parish Church. Wigan. w/Egbert Derix
For tickets & further details, Contact 01942 824291 or dtcartlidge@gmail.com
16th. The Studio. Leamington Spa. w/Egbert Derix
17th. House concert. Litchfield. Door. w/Egbert Derix
Tickets. davidaconnolly@tiscali.co.uk
20th. The Bedford. Balham. w/Egbert Derix
22nd. ACT. Hinckley. w/Egbert Derix
23rd. Whitby Pavilion YO21 3EH.Whitby. N. Yorks. w/Egbert Derix
Tickets 01947 603475
24th. Venue TBA. Oxford. w/Egbert Derix

Some very bizarre venues there, not least my local football club, not that I learnt it from anybody in the vicinity...it was somebody in London that pointed it out to me!  I hope the audience reaches double figures.

Then again, Iain may be able to stop touring soon if he sells a shed load of these..

I wish I could make any of these - and Bacup is 4 hours away.

Maybe you'll get a free chest from Iain if you make it from Swansea in 4 hours (and I know what Google Maps says).  5 hours minimum (unless done in the depth of night).

Anyway, if you really want to see one, Lichfield or Leomington Spa are considerably closer to Swansea than Bacup Football Club.

If they were £10 each, I may have gone for one.

That's arguably a little harsh...but...

They look like they have taken a lot of time and love to create.  The price quoted however is clearly preposterous.

My Grandchildren made some very similar looking boxes last year at school.

What would we consider a reasonable price to pay for one of Iain's?

* Sorry *

It is steep but it does look very well put together in the pictures...with articles and photos strategically placed and mounted....not just slapped on the box with no thought to it. In addition, the mementos themselves are a rarity unto themselves and for a big Iain fan I should think it would be a very nice gift. I do have to admit its a steep price...but deserving of way more than 10 (American keyboard....can't put your currency notation in!)

Thanks David. Goldmark Gallery in Uppingham it is. It is a working art gallery and they only have about a 50 people audience. We've seen RT, McTell and June Tabor there. Fabulous intimate gigs.

Great venue, and great taste in art as well...so be careful if you carry your credit card with you...they put on a lot of pottery shows from people like Svend Bayer, Nic Collins, Lisa Hammond et al who I love.  I used to live just down the road in Empingham.  Happy days!

for me. Tickets are £12. Venue is actually a hall with a bar. Informative PDF (I hope with address and start time) is being produced.

Iain was magnificent last Sunday in a double bill with Dutch singer Linde Nijland in a church in an outpost called Sappemeer the northeast of the Netherlands. I had not seen him in a while now, but I seemed to detect an extra 'deepening' in his vocal delivery, the advancing years don't have a negative effect on his voice, that's for sure.
High point for me was Linde and Iain duetting on If You Saw Thro' My Eyes. Goosebumps!

On a related note, here's an actual videoclip I missed of Iain with the Searing Quartet - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcZKKGA91Ok&feature=share&list=PL16A7555864376D5E ... cool.

According to the IM website the 24 March date originally planned for an Oxford venue is now in Otley! They may be close alphabetically but geographically.... Does anyone know if anything is planned for the Oxford area?

I really enjoyed that. A pity so few others went. I suspect the audience was much the same size as for the promoter's house concerts, with the added cost of hall hire.
Ian mentioned that he had one forthcoming gig, and was then going to be writing another CD with Egbert.
