Hi Everybody

Just to let you know we have just booked Al Stewart to play the Victoria Theatre in Halifax West Yorkshire on Saturday October 26th and Iain Matthews will be doing the support for the evening.

Mark Griffiths who was in Southern Comfort with Iain will also be playing.

I wonder how many people saw Iain open for Al on the 1991 tour!

Thanks johnbev.  Do you know if Iain will be supporting Al Stewart on all his UK dates?  I have tickets to Al's Basingstoke concert, and having Iain Matthews there too would be the icing on the cake!

Sorry it is only the Halifax Show - but Iain is arranging a solo tour around October anyway. However only Whitstable and the Al show so far confirmed. There will be a new Iain Matthews solo album out this year.

It would have been wonderful to revive that 1991 tour when Iain opened for Al on about 20 dates.

But at least I managed to get him on One!

Yes, saw the Iain 'n' Al show at The Beck in Hayes. Was it that long ago?!!

Saw the show at Preston Guildhall. Very poor audience so we all gathered in the front rows for a more intimate evening.  Al S was having a tough time with hearing through his monitors though from where I was sitting it was fine. He described it as being like Spinal Tap and cut his set short (saw the set list and he missed out, I think, Nostradamus). Iain persuaded him back on for an encore and they sang MOTL. He might not have enjoyed the evening but I certainly did.

Iain and I were only talking about that last week. It was like interferance from taxis breaking through the PA and Al was well unhappy.
It was a Sunday night and Preston was deserted - but I think they had too many shows in the north-west on that tour. They played Colne, Preston and Oldham as well as Leeds. The London gig was the Mean Fiddler and they finished with MOTL at almost every show. Delighted I've got them back together in Halifax, Iain is planning a solo UK tour to coincide. Al has about ten dates including full band show at Albert Hall.
