Hey all,

Not sure if this community is big on lists so this may go nowhere, but I have some time to kill at work...so what are everyone's top post-Fairport RT songs?  Huh

I'll have a go:

1. Calvary Cross

5. Dimming of the Day
6. Valerie
7. 1952 Vincent Black Lightning

This is going to take a bit of thought. I could name two right off the bat but I am not sure I can narrow the rest down to a list of ten. I'll get back to you...

Like Nick said, it could change, but think for sure it would always include most of the following, in no order-

1. 1952 Vincent Black Lightning
2. Cooksferry Queen
3. Wall Of Death
4. Shoot Out The Lights (any live version)
5. Tear Stained Letter
6. Walking On A Wire
7. A Heart Needs A Home
8. Valerie
9. Turning Of The Tide
10. Beeswing

Beeswing
Galway to Graceland
Persuasion

Cooksferry Queen
Wall Of Death
Shoot Out The Lights

All great selections that I had a hard time leaving off the list.  I especially love the version of Cooksferry on Live in Austin TX.  Ghosts in the Wind is another one - the solo version on the BBC box set is fantastic. Oh and MGB-GT of course.

I suppose this does change day to day, depending on how one is feeling.  Smiley

That was tough. For now I am going with (in no particular order)

Can’t Win
Al Bowlly’s In Heaven
Waltzing’s For Dreamers
The Poor Ditching Boy
The End Of The Rainbow
A Heart Needs A Home
Walking On A Wire
A Bone Through Her Nose
Mingus Eyes
Bathsheba Smiles

Honorable mentions for I Still Dream and Guns Are The Tongues which only just missed the list. And the Live At Crawley version of Ghosts In The Wind is a favourite recording.

I haven't lived with the two most recent albums for long enough to be objective yet but I suspect that If Love Whispers Your Name may work its way in at some point.

Edit: Damn! have just realised I forgot Hand Of Kindness!

Ditto.

In fact I would struggle to narrow it to 10 albums....

Waltzing’s For Dreamers

That was the one I'd noticed was conspicuous by its absence 'till you mentioned it, Al.

Can I take "all the above"?

I'll need a bit of time for this.

Thank God this isn't a community big on lists!
I'm with Jules, a day isn't long enough to distill it to 10.

This is completely impossible - I'd struggle to narrow it down to 50 really, but...

1952 Vincent Black Lightning
The end of the rainbow
Waltzing's for dreamers
Cold kisses
I feel so good
Beeswing
Can't win
Cooksferry queen
Tear stained letter
Wall of death

I'd probably come up with a different 10 tomorrow and the day after that and...

Well I know the early stuff better than the recent stuff, so this may well change as I get more familiar with the newer songs, but for now:-

1. When I Get To The Border
2. 1952 Vincent Black Lightning
3. House Of Cards
4. Nobody's Wedding
5. We Sing Halllelujah
6. Streets Of Paradise
7. I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight
8. Back Street Slide
9. Down Where The Drunkards Roll
10. Dimming Of The Day

Bubbling under: Wall Of Death; Painted Ladies; The Angels Took My Racehorse Away; Old Man Inside A Young Man; I'll Never Give It Up; Shoot Out The Lights; Beeswing; The Old Changing Way; MGB-GT; The Poor Ditching Boy.

So many to choose from but I started with those which I've attempted to play on the guitar (not including Beeswing!) and had to include a light-hearted one at the end. Just thinking of the Janet Jackson song makes me smile. I've added a cover too, with Friday On My Mind coming a close second.

1. I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight
2. Al Bowlly's In Heaven
3. Can't Win
4. Don't Sit on my Jimmy Shands
5. Beeswing
6. Train Don't Leave
7. Gethsemane
8. Happy Days and Old Lang Syne
9. Saving The Good Stuff For You
10. Dear Janet Jackson
