This turned up on the Southend-on-Sea nostalgia page on Facebook:

Anyone know what the setlist was? Rumour has it that John Peel never actually turned up.

Any festival with a band named "Highly Strung Vest" in the lineup has got to be worth a punt!... Grin

I'd hazard a guess that "I'm Going Home" (ALB) and "Breadfan" (Budgie) were played.

I wonder if any of the other Southend/Canvey Island band members joined in with Mickey Jupp - Kursaals, Feelgoods, Chilli Willi....

That was the Gottle o'geer line-up. Possibly their first gig. I was tempted, but ended up at Charlton for The Who, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Little Feat, Outlaws, Streetwalkers and Widowmaker instead. Can't say I regret my choice. And I did see FC a week later in London..

For a while they were all washed up.
Then they were sort of just hanging around.
Then they ironed out the problems.
Then they (allegedly) came out of the closet and are now a top drawer act.
But some people think they're pants.
