To properly qualify, that last step has to be Danny Thompson has played with Richard Thompson who was a member of Fairport Convention! Right, where shall we go next?

Rosko Gee (bass in Can 77-79) played in Traffic with Steve Winwood. Steve Winwood played on Sandy Denny's Rendezvous. Wikipedia is invaluable for this sort of thing isn't it??

It is really proving a point though. Fairport are at the centre of the musical universe. It may be necessary to look across the Atlantic or delve into Europop to break the chain. Aqua? A-ha? Ace Of Base? (And that is just the As ) How about Steely Dan?

Michael McDonald appeared on Steely Dan's Katy Lied. He subsequently joined the Doobie Bros when Willie Weeks was also a member and WW has played with, amongst many others, RT.
