Indeed, in no way condoning death threats but in the world of Twitter they are all too easy to make and there's no shortage of idiots to make them.

To me its the music thats important, and there is often enough cretinous left wing and middle of the road comments around to swamp out cretinous rightwing comments.

Just spent a few minutes looking up what it was all about.  None the wiser on his politics or his music to be honest, though getting death threats as alledged is pretty extream for a country that welcomes free speech.

On the positive side he could play some memorable tunes from the 1960s and that'd be very enjoyable.

Slightly less positive was  the lecture on how he was the founder of many musical trends when last I saw him on stage.

But I enjoyed the music, even then.

And he's an Old Etonian, but we won't hold that against him will we?

No we won't, but some of us will hold his cretinous rightwing comments against him, no matter how much he tried to row back from them afterwards.

You're right - some pretty objectionable stuff. Against funding the arts: obviously oblivious of how heavily funded the Olympic Opening Ceremony was (of which he was part) was. Probably his high profile gig ever, and wouldn't have happened without state funding.

Many of our musical heroes have feet of clay. That's the price we pay.

Don't worry, Mick. Morrissey at Cropredy is about as likely as Susan Boyle at Donnington.

I just have never 'got' Morrisey.  I'm sure he's a lovely bloke who loves his mum, but, I'm afraid I just can't get excited about him.

Saw Frank Turner 18 months. Scepticism about him for Cropredy stems not from his views expressed in the past. There are many who have shot their mouth off in the past and regretted it, probably most of us as well! Despite my own views, there will be plenty in my collection who don't share them as well as one or two who I probably would not have liked to meet.

Rather that when I saw him every other word was four letters.  Great music and love his records but he would not be right for the family vibe at Cropredy.

As for Morrissey, don't get me started. Overrated, self-obsessed and those are his good points. (Wouldn't mind Johnny Marr though.)

We can rule out the Albion Band then...

Unless there's a new new Albion Band by then...

I've heard there's at least two new ones, and that either or both of them are up for it.

Jules

My version, The Albion Hair Band, can't make it due to hair washing duties that night.
