My problem with Merry Hell is I somehow always expect more from the name - it puts me in a mindset expecting a rather more rollicking and rousing act than they actually are.

No, this should probably be removed to another thread. Somebody mentioned them in passing which has started a bit of a discussion.

Hmm I agree with this. From what I'd read about them I expected something a bit more rousing than what I've seen on YouTube - I know it's not the best representation but they seemed quite tame to me.  Undecided

Interesting  that the merch man joined this board yesterday!

The manager , Damien, would love them to play but didnt sound too hopeful when I raised it a few weeks ago. He's not raised it when I have spoken to him since, so who knows.

I've done my best to split this topic away from the confirmed turns at Cropredy 2014 thread.

All the same please keep discussions relevant to the topic and not just general about an artist.

Also don't just list artists, they will be deleted. Chose one and give a reason.

And it's probably too late anyway to effect who's playing, but that won't stop us.  Grin

No, with their history they will headline on Sunday with the sounds of Spinal Tap does jazz, before it all goes awry and they lose another drummer  Wink

No objection to Merry Hell. On before the Head-liners on Thursday or Friday they would be good.

Still shouting into the wind for Svbway to Sally. Wont happen of course, why would they come to Britain to play a one off in front of 20,000 people when the mere rumour of them gigging can sell double that anywhere in the Germanic Nations.

Did anyone look at the link I put up,  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsvXJEjPCfs   ? What do you think? Any one else ever seen them in concert?

Didn't Harry Shearer mention being a fan of Fairport on Mayo & Kermode once, could have been Baron Guest though?

Wouldnt at all be surprised if he was a fan, even forgetting that he and his Mrs are friends with Richard, Fairport's early story must have figured into some of Spinal Tap, in terms of the numbers of people in the band!

I have a feeling/hope that The Folkmen/Spinal Tap may do Cropredy some time. Now would be most likely the best time.As a folk and rock fan, having the proverbial taken out of my obssessions would make me happy.*(As long as the puppet show don't headline that day.)
