That's apparently "Grammy Award-winning musician and acclaimed actor Meat Loaf", just to get it correct. "Acclaimed"! Yeesh!
FFS. I do hope not. Cue another of those "we've been trying to get him for years" cute little paragraphs in the programme.

I do hope not - I can't stand his music... if he is headlining Thursday, there'd have to be somebody I REALLY want to see on earlier (and couldn't see elsewhere) to persuade me to go for 3 days. Even then, it'd have to be an early night for me.

Would like to tick Mr Loaf off on my I-Spy list of bands I've never seen, so don't think he'd be a bad booking.

Ditto , infinitely preferable to marillion and a tribute band!

Blimey I'm tempted. but cos Loaf is a bit pricey, apparently Thurs night headliner is a covers band called Australian Spam.

Well, to be fair he is an acclaimed and very accomplished actor, particularly for his role in Fight Club. He was so good in that, I didn't even realise it was him until the credits rolled. As for the music, I'll pass. I can tolerate the original Bat Out Of Hell but wouldn't listen by choice. His vocal style is too overwrought for my tastes, not to mention the bombast of the songs themselves.

Well as this is the right place for speculation what about James Taylor? He is touring the U.K in Sept/Oct and Peggy has often said he would love have him at Cropredy or is he too big/expensive?

I'm afraid I actively loathe the music of Meat Loaf so wouldn't wish that horror on anyone.... James Taylor will, surely, have to be on the bill sometime, as Peggy has talked about wanting it often enough. I'd have thought though that the fact he is touring the UK in Sept/Oct rules him out, rather than rules him in?

I'm still hoping for the (new) Albion Band, and on the back of her Sandy songs album, I'd have thought that Thea Gilmore would do well too. But I said the same last year too...

I enjoy Thea Gilmore, especially after I saw her at the free Hyde Park concert last year. She was supremely confident and had great presence even at a big event like that. Perfect for Cropredy.

Agreed - Albion Band The Next Generation should definitely not be passed over again for Cropredy 2014, and Thea last appeared in 2010 (?), so could reasonably expect her to appear again soon...

Given their appearance at GBFF, it may be time for Strawbs again. Equally, Judie Tzuke would be a fine addition to Friday afternoon.

In the "wake everyone up and get them on their feet in the middle of the afternoon" slot (previously occupied by 3 Daft Monkeys et al) can we have Skinny Lister please?
Cheers

There may be a vegitarian option available. Though i sort of hope it isnt Meatloaf, i have never seen him and have been consistantly surprised by many artists I thought i would not like at festivals, and often underwhelmed by those i was looking forward too.

I've seen him. He's Marmite. Puts on a tremendous show (not in Alice Cooper league mind) and he's very American, in that he mentions people he's worked with a lot (think of the Not The Nine O'Clock News Lech Walesa sketch...). A bit overdone but fun to sing along to and he does work very hard, and get very sweaty

Last time we saw James Taylor Peggy was near the front having a ball... (We were near the back, but loving every wonderful moment) Perhaps Peggy could make a birthday pressie to himself? - and delight the rest of us??? Please....
