'A deadly dull New Age folk rock record co-produced by Mattacks and Nicol.'

This was the only one I got right...

Here's a lengthy RT/FC and friends discography/critique which I hadn't seen before and which might interest those of a disposition which enjoys both idling away a lunch break and/or taking the author to task...
See if you can identify the albums from these snippets before you check the answers. Fez

Includes some competent but not terribly exciting performances.

Finally, Fairport cuts a record that dispenses with gushy lyrics and ponderous vocals.

A deadly dull New Age folk rock record co-produced by Mattacks and Nicol.

A reunion record that somehow manages to be both less experimental and less entertaining than their first effort.

A record so brilliant I can't even explain it.

It's a huge letdown.

Wow! There is so much to disagree with there , it is overwhelming to know where to start.

Even on the records he likes he rubbishes most of the best songs (Withered & Died, A Heart Needs A Home).

2.5 stars for 'guitar, vocal'?  Sorry, I'm not wasting time on this....  Grin

He probably knocked a couple of stars off for the "...three exhaustingly long-winded tracks".  Grin

Maybe it was his "well considered and perfectly acceptable reflection" eh?

Good point, as Shane pointed out earlier this could well be a valid interpretation of his comments, but actually he really is just talking bollox

I suspect (and hope) that Cropredy 2017 will be incredibly well-documented and released in various official forms: CD, DVD, and perhaps Blu-ray.  But what about Cropredy 2016?  Did the band record its performance?  If so, will an official CD be available eventually?  I realize these things take time, but I'd be happy just to know that such a release is in the cards.

If nothing else, I look forward to 50:50@50.

Not perfect. Never claimed to be.

Everything is recorded off the desk and the video is also kept.  Production costs of mastering and producing Blu-Ray and DVD mean that the numbers sold have to be reasonably substantial.

In my experience, audio recordings of what were exciting performances at the time, seldom live up to the memories you have of the moment.

So, 2016 BR/DVD/CD? Unlikely. 2017? Probably. It really depends on how the whole thing goes.

I note Prog 69 being advertised (Marillion chap on t'cover):

Issue 69 of Prog contains a major feature on Marillion (to coincide with the band's epic F.E.A.R. album).

Also includes articles on The Pineapple Thief, Barclay James Harvest, XTC, Buggles, Devin Townsend, Ashley Hutchings, and others.

The covermount cd features Nosound, Tilt, Erik Norlander, and more.

Can't find a topic for a 2017 wish list, but I've just noticed Daphne's Flight are reforming.
Surely they would fit into the 'friends and family' category?
Chris and Julie have so many links, and Chris Collister is still my favourite RT female vocal.

And if you doubt that, try his reviews of Leonard cohen. Just bizarre.

That horrible right wing Peter Hitchens of Mail on Sunday fame, had this to say about Meet on the Ledge, RT & FC. It's actually worth a read - too long to quote here...here's the link

http://hitchensblog.mailonsunday.co.uk/2015/06/old-forgotten-far-off-things.html

There’s a follow up blog when Hitchens reveals RT’s mother requested the song for her funeral. Did we know this?
