My copy of RnR has just dropped through the letterbox with a 5 page spread on Fairports.

Anything new or of interest?

I'd still struggle to get excited, FC would soon knock him into the MOR

This seems to go as far as 2008 and might be useful?

Nice find, Jude. I first saw FC at Manchester University (Owen's Union) after Sandy left but before Richard. It seems that was Friday 17 April 1970 and I had just turned 18. I though they were Americans (Richard's long curls and 'USA' T-Shirt). Folk? Lor'!

I was perusing the reverse side of the Fairport at Gloucester Cathedral flyer earlier today... the band is quoted as (and I'm paraphrasing here!) "excited to be playing with a choir for the first time".

Not sure if this means the first time on the same bill as a choir, or whether the choir & Fairport will be performing together... if the latter, I wonder if FC will provide instrumental backing to one/some of the choir's repertoire, or will the choir be providing vocal accompaniment to FC songs? Or both?

Sounds intriguing...

Thanks Judy, I found it very useful too. Many memories came alive.
Do you or anyone else know who to contact or where to go if I want to add or specify a date?
I think I have a date for the August 1974 Gothenburgh gig as I was there.  Cheesy

There is an email address at the top of the page where Scott Abbot invites people to update the list, but it doesn't seem to have been updated since 2008. But worth emailing him I guess

I came across the list accidentally and used it to check some dates in my autobiography..

Oh, I don't know.  A full concept album about the voyage might be just what the band need.  In general Chris' songs on that sort of subject seem to be the better ones!

I always had a daft idea that Fairport should do an inverse Babbacombe Lee, and do a concept album with a sea faring theme that contains one song about a hanging, rather than an album about a hanging (or three) with a nautical interlude in the middle. I don't 'spose there was a rope incident involved with Franklin's adventures though....but I'm with you on that one...get Maart in too, because Spanish Maine and Lalla Rookh are two of my favourites.

Picked up a copy of this aeons ago simply because of the credit to a Dave Pegg & it resides in the deepest part of the vault. Whether he's playing or producing, I don't recall & I don't think I ever plucked up the courage to listen to it.  Smiley
