I think David's remark was rather below the belt  Wink

BTW for filler info, Charnock Richard July Wakes festival, Lancs., July 77. Here's a report of the '76 and '77 one.

http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/chorley.html/[url][url]http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/chorley.html

Re the tale of jumping in the lake I think that's apocryphal as a) I don't remember it and I think I would have, and b) I didn't photograph it and I'm pretty sure I would have done had it happened.  It was a sweltering summer's day and there was banter about jumping in the lake (between the stage and the crowd). Swarb was just preparing for that eventuality...

I was there.

Simon had a tee shirt on sayinf Nil Illegitimi Carborundum (Dont let the bastards grind you down) . Charnock Richard was also a show jumping arena and there was awater feature in front of the stage . Swarb joked to the crowd that the first member of the audience to jump in couls have Simon's shirt. Someone duely jumped in and claimed it so Simon replied with and the next can have Swarb's trousers. Hence the debagging. Peggy  came to the microphone and muttered " If I'd known this was happening I'd have worn me coat"

That photo is crying out for a tabloid headline... Semi-naked Swarb and shirtless Simon Shock!

Just as well Swarb hadn't decided to go commando that day.   Shocked

Jeez, so all this time Simon has been notorious for being hung like a horse, and yet somehow this had escaped me?

Well I imagine Dave 'Bollock On' Pegg's book (which I have to read) is fun filled... Smiley
If he missed any corkers I will, a Goat, fireworks and the wonderful 'leisurely sightseeing trip' to Zurich for a gig with Deep Purple come to mind....

Just a quick question for you erudite lot.

Did the Unconventional box have a 5th disc which  came out afterward?  I have disc five for Cropredy Capers but cant find anything else. Thanks. (Discogs doesn't list one).

No it didn't (not unless I missed it as well, that is!).

There was a fifth one for the Cropredy Capers set (The Best & The Guests), as you mentioned.

Thanks Will. It was keeping me awake last night looking through my highly disorganized LP and cd collection.  Cool

I though The Best and The Guests was a bonus for Unconventional, no?  Maybe it was a bonus for both.

I have a vague memory that you could send off for one, but it was a sampler for the other boxes...I'm probably wrong though.

I thought that too Jules but I am not at home to check. I'm sure there was a flyer in the box that enabled you to send away for the extra disc. There was an extra disc in the Cropredy box too which may have been exclusively guest performances but I can't remember now.

Edit: A quick check on the Free Reed website confirms that The Best & the Guests was indeed the bonus disc for Unconventional. A look at Discogs confirms that there was a send away bonus disc for Cropredy Capers but does not elucidate on what it was and I can't remember.
