I followed the link and it told me I bought it in 2010, was it really that long ago!? Must have bought the earlier box sets in the stone age.

If I had it, I might take you up on that. I very much regret not having the readies at the time. There was a lot of politics involved in that box - most of which I don't really understand, but Andrew Batt who put it together is a very nice chap. ps if you want to really splash out, there's a copy on eBay for £1500 Bought mine for about £20 from a bookshop in Brighton, crazy times when you have to contemplate adding a CD box set to your Home Contents Insurance policy. Really?! It was £250 or so on release wasn't it, and sold out pretty promptly

As with a lot of people on here, having already got most of this stuff already, several times over in a lot of cases, I didn't even consider buying it. Looking at what I hadn't got, I checked out the condensed The Notes and The Words: A Collection Of Demos & Rarities. Even that ranges from £118 - £250 just for 4 discs. On the other hand, I did pick up a five disc AC/DC set - the one box I've bought in 18 months or so - which only cost £7, although one of the discs was Back In Black which I already had on CD. And vinyl.

I contacted them and received a full second box within a couple of days and before I returned the first box. It sold out very shortly after. I can beat the £20 above, I got a copy of the CD version of the WKWTTG box set for £1 second hand. I already had the vinyl version which I got from a trader in West Wales , whom I called in to see when on Holiday. I swapped him two ex library LPs , one of which was Five Hand Reel I think . cost me 50p each.

I have only ever paid that amount once, for the Ian Hunter.

Those 5-CD sets are good value. Generally no additional blurb or additional tracks, just reproductions of the original sleeves, but the couple I have (Kevin Ayers 1st 5 albums and Soft Machine's Third to Seven) served as good intros to their music. (I was born in 1973. I was 15 years old during the 'second summer of love' around which time I completely ignored Stone Roses et al, and was starting to discover 1970s folk rock. And here I am listening to Soft Machine in 2020. He says, apropos of nothing.)

I have a lot of those things, 18 of them in fact - I just counted them - including the Kevin Ayers one, the Sandy One, two Fairport, but this one was the Bonfire release. One of those hard back book things, like the original Bob Marley Songs Of Freedom set. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonfire_(album)
