Diverse Vinyl, those nice vinyl specialists down in Wales, have advertised a Fairport broadcast record as a forthcoming release. No idea if it's official. Can't find it on amazon as yet.
Label is Rhythm and Blues records..
This one: https://www.diversevinyl.com/product/the-broadcast-album-1968-1970/? Looks like it is taken from Heyday or from the Live at the BBC box, but whether that means FC get anything from it, I don't know. Actually, I'm not sure Billy the Lonely Orphan Boy... has been released anywhere officially, so don't knw what the source for that might be... Yes, some of the tracks are recognisable from Heyday, and some aren't. |

In case you didn't know (I only found out after seeing a post on Facebook) today is the 55th anniversary of Fairport's first ever gig.
If you take a look at the Fairport Convention Touring page on FB you'll see some birthday wishes from the likes of Ralph McTell, RT and Robert Plant.
I am giving the debut album a spin and raising a glass to Simon et al and in particular remembering Jude, much missed I'm sure by all of us here on TalkAwhile.

In David Cavanagh's book Good Night And Good Riddance it's recorded that he played Ashley Hutchins in 1978, the same night he famously played Teenage Kicks for the first time (twice). |

I'd seen XTC and Wire in Hull around 78/79 so I'm with Gub , got to be Talking Heads , still love "Fear Of Music"
No chance of them in Hull at any stage of their career
I did have a friend who was nuts about Radiators From Space .....but he loved the Heads more so...

Yes, he had otherwise moved on entirely to the new music but was a huge fan of the Rise Up album and played the Albions amongst his other noisier selections. |
