I just thought that I would post this link - https://www.innerviews.org/inner/fairport.html - from an interview with each of the five FC members at the time of the XXXV album. There's just a lot of interesting stuff in there that I've never seen in any other interviews, so I thoroughly recommend reading it if you have a few spare minutes .....

Saw Silverblues at Beardy.

Sorry, but do we really need THREE Lindisfarne tribute acts (with "Lindisfarne" and "The Alan Hull Story") doing the rounds? Any non-Lindisfarne tracks they played were just about ignored so they concentrated on the classic FOTT and similar to get the audiences approval.

Ray Jackson has a great voice, the others contributed little and I can't see this particular collaboration continuing except, possibly, for financial reasons.

I will invite derision but Lindisfarne were  no longer Lindisfarne without Hull.imho
The original lineup of bands were usually the ones that made the impression because they had that energy and spark.
One original member and a bunch of session men a band does not make,.
Yes I know that can be aimed at Fairports but I always saw every new Fairport lineup as effectively a new band…..very little in common between the Alcock Fairports and the Leslie Fairports .
I am an old f**t so Liege and Lief lineup will always be Fairports for me and that lasted 6 months!

I suppose it's a bit late to organise the 2023 tour set list sweepstake?

I've just got my tickets for The Roses in Tewkesbury next March (the 8th, to be exact).

2nd row, just off centre.  Perfect for watching Peggy & DM working together - up there in the very top echelon of rhythm sections, IMHO...

Is DM confirmed for the winter tour, then?

That is excellent news.

You'd be amazed at the number of venues advertising the Autumn jaunt with 5 members (either DM or Gerry) and focussing on the folk-rockiness of it all.  Hmmm.

I've just got my Wintour tickets for The Stables at Wavendon (Milton Keynes) on 6th Feb 2024 (normally a sell out). I can't find the other Wintour dates (not on FC website yet). Keep an eye on your local venue website to stay one step ahead.

This seller (nothing to do with me) on Vinted has got some new old Cropredy/Fairport tees (Large) from their Dad on sale.  Still bagged some of them.  I've just bought one.

Oh, and a great Caravan shirt from '96 if you're a Medium...

Talking of old t shirts, my son sent me this today. I'm not sure where it's for sale (possibly ebay?) I believe it's from the 1998 festival. The seller is asking for £40

That one is n‘t 1998. That year Roy Wood was there, but it featured Hank Wangford, Cat Scratch Fever, Waz, Anna Ryder, Solstice etc...etc...I just remember because it was the first time my then bestie & his good lady managed to persuade me to attend.

It’s 1995,  I just checked.

Oh, thanks for that, Lorna. I assumed it was 98 as both Roy Wood and Richard Thompson were there.

If any of "The Chaps" read this - next time you play in or near Gloucester, I recommend the Aroma (69 Southgate St, between the city centre and the docks) Indian restaurant.  Very good food, great service and atmosphere.  Signature dish Kozhi (chicken) chettinadu - with 18 spices! - is excellent!  Vegetarian sides & mains also look & smell delicious...
