Thinking back to when Chris took over from Maart I have a vague memory of seeing Chris playing lead guitar on his first tour, a red electric maybe - is this right and is there any footage?
DW
I haven't checked but he may use it on the Cropredy 98 DVD which followed the Wintour on which he played it. I definitely remember him using it on Spanish Main on that tour. You're definitely correct with the memory (I went to the Swansea gig). As to whether there is footage or not...I'm not sure. But I'd very much like to see it if there was...

Thanks to GubGub's mention of the Live at Rock City 1987 album, I notice that on both that and on the 4 Play CD Swarb compiled of live tracks from 1977-79, the selection of tunes which begins with Haste to the Wedding is called Royal Seleccion No. 5, whereas on Bonny Bunch of Roses, where it first appeared, and on all the other recordings I have of it, it is No. 13. Does anyone have any idea why the discrepancy?

Are there any plans for a new FC album soon? Steeleye are planning one for Spring 2025 so I'm hoping we could get a nice double treat. Both are overdue one with 2019 (SS) and Jan 2020 (FC) being the last. Dare I say they might end up being the last for both bands... 🤔

Yes. It is a track from his, then current, first solo album Maart. It got played regularly on the '91 and '92 Wintours (or possibly '90 & '91), along with an instrumental from the same album, Con Caseys Jig/Tripping Up The Stairs.

I remember the cover of the album well, but don't think I ever had or heard it. Decent?

It is mostly instrumental which is probably fortunate as Maart didn't have the best singing voice. A tour de force in as much as Maart plays everything on it. Worth a stream if it is available anywhere and you want to make up your own mind. I would say OX15 is probably a better and more collaborative record. And I really like Two Bays, his final album, with Lisa Starnini

I already have and regularly wear one. Medium for me would be not so much aspirational, more delusional fantasy!

A ridiculous purchase, but quite a meaningful one for me...a small sweatshirt from my first (of 20 odd, last one in 2010) Cropredy. I doubt I'd have fitted a 'small' at 17, and I definitely don't now...but still nice to have. I'm still after a decent quality tee shirt I could wear but I expect I'll leave this planet still wanting one of those.

This grabbed my attention, not because I've heard or even heard of it 🤔, but because a Fairport album released on vinyl is notable. Is it worthy of my interest ? I speak as a mostly 'classic era only ' fan of the group.

You sort of answered your own question. Jules It's wildly atypical, Alan, and imho exceedingly OTT, but not without its momentary charms. You really need to listen to some of it first, I think. Classic era Fairport it ain't...

It is the tracks from Alain Simon's Excalibur project that Fairport members played on. I like it. I seem to be in a minority here.
