Here's the official link I just received from Spin CDs (I just now saw that Jules posted this above at the beginning of the thread):

http://www.spincds.com/live-1974-at-my-father-s-place-cd

I appreciate all the comments here.  This group is a valuable resource for evaluating such purchases before the money is spent...

I'm on Spin's list too, and am also awaiting info about this release, from anyone who knows anything.  Cool

I would argue that all the info you need has already been outlined above.

If its just the fm tape then is been widely available for years in an unofficial capacity.
It will need to be a hell of a sonic upgrade to make me pay what they are asking for it on Amazon.

I thought that too. I know Amazon's CD pricing can sometimes defy logic, but I'd be interested to know how they justify £23.69 when Spin have it for half the price.

I'm convinced it's just the fm tape and the omission of Sloth would lead me to think it's a copy of a boot I had years back, which was easily the worst version of the gig I've heard. Don't know anything about the label RockBeat Records, but a look at their at their website doesn't really inspire confidence that this is going to be anything other than a cheap (although not at Amazon  Roll Eyes) knock-off.

I've used that seller (All Your Music aka Digital Waves) many times, they're reliable and always considerably cheaper than Amazon. Although they say they ship from the States I think they use some form of bonded warehouse arrangement (presumably to avoid import duty), so it actually comes directly from their premises in Middlesex.

I use them a lot too.  The CDs themselves must come from the States originally, because they always take 10 or 11 days to land.  But, yes, they do probably come via a second base here in the UK.

the new cd version sounds, if anything, worse than the boot i've had for many years, i should have saved myself 6 quid. Still unless they unearth some hidden gems it's far and away the best release under the fairport banner that will be released this year.

I'v e wondered about this, as their returns address is in the UK, but the stuff takes  abut 10 days to get to you, in my experience. I'm about to return a CD with bent digipak, and wondered if this was because of the long transit . . . Undecided

I find that most digipaks come somewhat creased in the mail these days.  In their case, using those thin corrugated cardboard mailers is probably the main reason.
