Not long now till Ralph's 70th celebration concert at Drury Lane.
Who's going and who knows a good place to meet before the show?

We'll be there. It's traditional. We always go and see Ralph in December and it's always a joy. I hadn't thought where we will go first.

It's Ralph's fault that logistically I need to get to the Deli just off Sloane Square as they do the best whisky cake ever, so as Ralph is not at Cadogan Hall this time, Sloane Square to Drury Lane needs to be considered! I don't actually know what's around Drury Lane but if there is a foyer we could crowd in there! I was going to remind you Colin to bring your camera but of course Ralph will probably be partying after his 70th so I doubt if there will be the long line of people awaiting their 2 minutes with the man himself for signing of cd's?

The theatre bar sounds the logical place. Looking forward to seeing you again, Colin and Joanna.

Check that out as the theatre may only open 60 mins before curtain up....do we want to book somewhere earlier than say 6.30?

I hear it's open 45 mins before a performance, so 18.45 in the bar.
I have a busy weekend planned with friends from the States but will get them there by 19.00!

They told me the bar usually opens 45 mins before a show so the ground floor stalls bar is probably as good a place as any

of course Ralph will probably be partying after his 70th so I doubt if there will be the long line of people awaiting their 2 minutes with the man himself for signing of cd's? I emailed his website to ask if there would be a sales point for CDs etc. at this gig - was told 'yes there will be' but that Ralph won't be doing a signing session.

I've got one very special ticket for sale for Ralph's 70th birthday concert at Drury Lane. Unfortunately I can't go due to photographing the Great British Folk Festival The ticket is for a seat on the FRONT ROW CENTRE STAGE (Row AA) Fabulous ticket, and available at face value (£50 inc. booking fee) If interested, please PM me on here or contact 07740 373131, or email philca@sky.comTicket in hand and ready to post by Royal Mail Special Delivery (£3.50) I'll keep it available on here until Wednesday 19th November, then I'll advertise it elsewhere, but would rather it went to a genuine fan. Best regards, Phil Carter

It looks like Ralph McTell is going to be 140, not 70. There is another 70th gig at the Half Moon in Lower Richmond Road, Putney for a charity.

Two tickets for sale for Ralph McTell's 70th concert on Sunday 7th December. A friend has asked me to post this message as her husband has gone into hospital this morning and they are unlikely to be able to attend the concert. The two tickets are in Row D stalls and they cost £44 each. The tickets can be posted or handed to you at the venue. Please email Janet at wildgoose1938@gmail.com and put something obvious in the subject field.

Thanks for the interest. The tickets are now promised to someone (from this board).
Sorry to those we had to disappoint.

Well, if last night was anything pointer for Sunday, we're all in for a real treat!
Graham Pleskett (?) who arranged and played on some of Ralph's early albums plus an Irish muso (Mr Gallagher, can't remember his first name, but Martin might...) joined him on stage, where he ran through two one-hour sets. They'll be with him on Sunday, plus Danny Thompson & I suspect, some others.
It will really be some celebration, I reckon, but Sunday will be organised & timed to perfection. Last night was the best gig I've witnessed of Ralph's possibly for a decade! Lots of obscure numbers, few of the ones you'd expect, although the hit(s) were all there as you'd expect.

That'll be Graham Preskett and Frank Gallagher, who worked with Ralph on Billy Connolly's 'World Tour of Scotland'. Not long now!
