Shouldn't be at that price, which should be shown on the customs sticker.

You're allowance is £27 last time I checked

http://www.mynewsdesk.com/uk/pressreleases/hm-revenue-customs-changes-to-personal-import-allowances-358933 indicates that the de minimis limit for VAT is £18, so a £20 item could well have VAT and handling charges added.
I have sometimes fallen foul of this.

I believe it's dropped to £15.  Anything over that is subject to charges.  Unless it's a gift.

Colin Irwin seems to have a problem with any repackaging of Sandy's work.

I seem to recall that Colin Irwin had a problem with Polly Bolton's voice a few years back!

Don't think so, Adrian's link applies to business transactions. VAT will be paid at point of sale. Importing stuff from within the EU for personal use should not attract any excess charges. That's one of the advantages of being in a "common market". Smiley

Within the EU?  There's no charge.  But we were talking about importing from the States here, and anything over £15 that's not a gift has the potential to attract charges.

Amazon Italy was amazingly fast. Two days after shipping it arrived, on 2 April. And it was proper Fotheringay, not Fotheringetti as feared.
Nice job. Music's very familiar of course (and among the best in the wider FC family), still wanted to have this one ... and Trevor? He rules. Bleh Colin irwin.

i think its quite anice job. the music is as you would expect i would only add that the tracks that became FC staples were immeasurably enhanced by having messrs Pegg and Mattacks on bass and drums not to mention todays birthday boy.
also must add that i do hate the way the discs are a bugger to remove, your heart is in your mouth until the come off in one piece.

To be fair, Colin champions Fairport, RT and other numerous offshoots and ex-members for decades now.
Doesn't mean you have to agree with everything he writes (I don't), but...

Long after the fact that major magazines stopped to care about Fairport he still found some merit in their endeavours, sometimes more than some of the esteemed Forum members here.

Hmmm....not sure.  I was watching the DVD part of the box the other day and was struck by Gerry's fine drumming.  He plays a blinder on that.

I, too, was struck by the dynamics of the band when first viewing the footage available on youtube.

Gerry gave 'em some real swagger.

Bridgewater Hall?  They're having a laugh, aren't they?

Sorry, and I'm desperate to see them but the thought of sitting in there with, what, 100 others doesn't seem very appealing....

Are there smaller spaces at the venue, David? I notice that the Liverpool Phil Hall is listing a night with Kevin Bridges on the date Jerry's giving for Fotheringay to play that venue, so I assume they're not in the main auditorium. (Personally, I'd prefer a night with Fotheringay.)

So, it's definitely the small venue in Liverpool.  £22.50 strikes me as very on the steep side, mind.  Still, I think I ought...
