Surely there is only one song to play on such a portentous date Rush 2112 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJPAjiSX7Rk I still love it and its amazing despite being the most pretentious concept ever.

Nice song from Patience Dabany from Gabon and Jacob Desvarieux from the French Antilles. Patience Dabany married when she was 15 years old with Omar Bongo who later became the president of Gabon, after 30 years of marriage she divorced and then started a musical career, she is also the mother of the current president: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37_EqtJVkAY

Always a good idea to say what it is (in this case, the documentary The Life & Times of Ronnie Lane). Good find though...I can remember watching this when it came out, look forward to watching it again. Thanks.

I thought I couldn't be surprised any more by Robin's choice of covers, after Songs for Guitar -- Just Like the River. Thanks David.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f96bP1NIYPMThe Uglys - 'Wake up My Mind' a hit in New Zealand apparently. Interesting bit of history. This line up included Steve Gibbons, but was before Peggy joined...

Proper rhythm and blues. Big Mama Thornton singing with Buddy Guy on guitar and John Lee Hooker on harmonica. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxoGvBQtjpM

Apparently, it's the season of popular musicians murdering perfectly good songs. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Michael Ball sings May You Never... http://youtu.be/EB45luvyVpQSweet bejesus... I'm also told that Susan Boyle did a rendition of Wish You Were Here for Children in Need this evening. The end is nigh. Well if it was as good as her version of 'Wild Horses', it'd be worth hearing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=GB&hl=en-GB&v=Yb3XAP0c8WU

The build up to Christmas is made extra special if you can ever get to see John Kirkpatrick, here's Carolling and Crumpets at Colchester. Brilliant! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxWrHeiMC_A

In 1965 I heard a record on the radio which, to me me, sounded absolutely fantastic. I do not know if it was on radio Luxembourg or one of the pirate stations. I went to the biggest record shop in town and ordered it, I did go there almost every week but in the end it took four months before it arrived. I found several clips of that song but the one below was the best of all, young people dancing. I do not know if the images were taken from a tv broadcast or that someone filmed it in some club, the song is Get yourself home by The Fairies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7aMEDVbziM
