Has anyone not seen this version of 'John Barleycorn' by Steve Winwood. ?

I think it's beautiful.

Yep, but thanks for reminding me about it.  I wish he spent considerably more time in this kind of musical mood.

This takes me right back to hearing the Traffic album version for the first time when I really didn't know what folk music was. Always thought it was the stand out track on the album. This is a lovely version, really suits his voice.

I don't know the exact year of the clip (it's from a BBC special, apparently) but I'm struck by how undamaged his voice is. It sounds as good as it does on the album version, which was what 1971 (?)

After the traffic version anyone else covering it knows there is just the silver medal available.

Eighteenth Day of May with a cover of Buffy Sainte-Marie's Cod'ine, a live regular in the 18th Day set back in the day. A one-off reunion (minus Allison Brice who these days lives in NYC) at Richard Olson's birthday bash at Walthamstow Tennis Club last month.

Take a vocal from a Deep Purple bootleg (Birmingham Town Hall 1971) of a rarely performed song, add instruments and visual silliness and you get this...

This new film of Big Big Train has gone up on line quite recently...the song is called 'Telling the Bees'. I believe tickets for their 2017 shows go on sale soon...

People have probably seen this, but I just heard it, though not the song for the first time. I'm always amazed by the clarity and control of Linda's voice at that time.

Two versions of Dolly Parton's Jolene, both featuring the lady herself.

The first isn't a Youtube clip (sorry), but is pretty good stuff :

https://www.fascinately.com/feel-good/2016/09/pentatonix-dolly-partons-acappella-rendition-of-jolene-is-absolutely-incredible/

This was posted on Facebook by Maggie Dunne (of Fuzzbox), and in the comments section, somebody posted a Youtube clip of Dolly's original slowed down to 33 and a third and it's rather splendid :
