For fans of obscurities.  A 1973 one-sided album with 9 songs, never released and only one acetate copy known to exist, from a then-17 year old English singer called Valda.  She never recorded anything further.  This is three songs from it, and to me it has shades of an early Sandy Denny...

These songs appeared on a 2013 double compilation CD called Cornufolkia, which is not so easy to find now either.

For whatever reason, I've never seen this before.  Just a brilliant version...much better than the recorded one (imho).  And what an amazing lineup to play it! Ridiculous.

Not as good IMO.  The guitar players just don't match Mike's tone on the original.  But I enjoyed it all the same.

I've heard the original far too many times to hear anything that excites me in it any more.  This one really moves me.  I still can't get over the lineup.

This wonderful video is included on a bonus DVD packaged with the deluxe version of TB I purchased a couple years ago. I will never forget seeing it for the first time on an obscure overnight TV series called "Night Flight" circa 1981.  (The same series screened "Rock for Kampuchea" in 1982, and other super cool rock videos before MTV, home video, and Youtube.  I think I also saw "The Atomic Cafe" on Night Flight...)

I was sure we'd discussed this on here before, and, sure enough, we did.
It was during this thread.....

Look at the cellist's face.  He's digging it.

Excellent. I often wonder if classical musicians, as performers of 'serious' music, dream of having the chance to wig out and improvise and create stuff, instead of sawing away at the notes they have to play from the paper. Maybe the cellist went home that day and gave it some welly on his 'axe'

I hadn't listened to any Nazareth in ages so put on their live album Snaz. It includes this song written by Zal Cleminson best know for being in the SAHB but he was also in Nazareth in the late 70s before this line-up formed

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTbuEfmTgLI

Bit of music trivia for you - both Nazareth and Big Country currently have a father and son in their line-ups. Pete & Lee Agnew and Bruce & Jamie Watson.

It's 25 years today since Frank Zappa died. He was undoubtedly a genius.

Here's a favourite track of mine.  Afro Fez

I know you shouldn't do regrets, but I so regret that I didn't go and see him that last time he played in Cardiff. This is a beautiful version, thank you for posting the link Andy.
