During lockdown, I've become slightly obsessed with this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYjIlHWBAVo    Nightwish 'Ghost love score' live

One of the most amazing vocal performances I've ever heard - especially the final 3-4 minutes. Absolutely stunning

That's really excellent.

I quite like symphonic metal but I borrowed a Nightwish album from a friend years ago and found it a bit thrashy and growly but if that's an example of what they're doing these days, then I need to explore their newer stuff.

I believe that Troy Donockley has been in the band for a while which is an interesting career swerve.

I'd recommend their later stuff - Floor Jansen, the singer is extraordinary. Their last but one album 'The greatest show on earth' is really good - with guest vocal appearance by none other than Richard Dawkins!

My mistake - the album is called 'Endless forms most beautiful'. 'The greatest show on earth' is one of the tracks.

Anyone know anything about this lot - Brutus - "War"?  Bloody good, I thought...not really my thing but I'm loving this shaking out a few cobwebs as I prepare for a week off.  Got to love a drumming singer...particularly when they look(sorry)/sound/drum/sing like this one.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBRYSlKDlws&fbclid=IwAR2JtNo9z0rgQ0Zjpdlh0ka1XL-SFBL-CI0TSqFcySlLjALuWnY6RCu_QV0

I like that. Starts of sounding like The Sundays a bit. Then kicks you in the crotch..so to speak.
P.S That's the first time I've seen the phrase 'drumming singer' rather than 'singing drummer'...but it's more accurate in this case for sure.

I've not heard of them before, but there's a couple of albums out, from 2017 and 2019, plus singles and E.P's (See Discogs). The first album is on youtube.

Her name is Stefanie Mannaerts.

That impressive. Outside my usual tastes. I get the Sundays comparison.

It's done Kate well for the best part of 2 decades.  There are a lot worse around.
