From this year's Wintour programme - help the guys choose the setlist for 2017 ! : "Simply list twenty songs that you would like to see performed on tour next year. The rules are simple : any song recorded by Fairport and released on an album or single is eligible. Matty Groves to close the set and Meet On The Ledge as the encore are given. Don't worry about putting them in order of preference, every title gets one point in the scoring. Send your list of twenty song titles to : Fairport50@virginmedia.com ." A harder task than I had anticipated - I wanted to choose some songs that I've never heard the current band play, and there's one or two from their own repertoire I'd like them to consider bringing back. So, at the moment my choices would be : Time Will Show The Wiser Jack O' Diamonds Nottamun Town Cajun Woman Percy's Song Sloth Poor Will & The Jolly Hangman Sir William Gower Wizard Of The Worldly Game The Plainsman To Althea From Prison Bring 'Em Down Limey's Lament Jack O' Rion Honour & Praise Wat Tyler The Golden Glove Spanish Main The Light Of Day Canny Capers Over to you, folks, what would you choose ?

Wow, Mike, we managed to have one whole song in common! Jules Progress. Interesting that it should be a long song with a tricky time signature about fairies.

Flipping heck, that'll take some thought....and no doubt, will change day to day......some pleasant means rings through CDs ahead I reckon.
Doing my list for Ralph at the Royal Albert Hall in May was tricky beyond belief...just one more song to fit in please....

By the way, I didn't necessarily vote for my favourite Fairport songs. Just the songs I'd like to hear the present line-up do. Otherwise "Who Knows Where The Time Goes" would be there for sure. But for me, that has to be Sandy (or, at very least, someone up to the job of standing in her shoes) singing that song.

I'd much rather we were choosing the set for Cropredy 2017.

Recent Cropredy set lists don't vary that much from the Winter Tour do they?

Do you not think we are? I refuse to be drawn into despair and misery with regards to Cropredy 2017. Until I have cause not to, I still believe. As for the Winter Tour, they can play what they want...I won't be there.

The trouble is,and it has become more and more apparent, in the last few years that the Cropredy set is just the wintour set adjusted for whatever musician is at hand to spice up the Cropredy set, hence Tom Robinson and that Kershaw chap, they seem so fond of, polluting what was once the highlight of a fairport fans year not to mention French rock operas, so awful that even the heavens complained bitterly.
