The 'unobtrusive percussionist'

« on: April 16, 2016, 05:03:52 PM »

This may be mentioned somewhere else already but.....
I see Sally Barker is supporting Fairports on Winter tour in 2017
So......... If I was to hypothesise a bit....
Sally plays  at Cropredy in her own right then becomes the female voice in the Fairport set.
If Sally is there you may as well have Fotheringay , cos Gerry and Jerry will be there.
If Fotheringay is there you could have Sean Lakeman and Kathryn Roberts as a duo.
If Fotheringay is there PJ is there so you could have Trad Arrr.
Only thinking out loud......

Firstly, Cropredy I feel is big enough that having one member of a band present means its more likely that their 'main' band also appears is no more likely - indeed, I'd be surprised, but happy, if Sean & Kathryn are booked. That year is a big anniversary & other acts have better FC/Cropredy links than they

Fotheringay will be at Cropredy 2017....as will DM and his current connection

Still we can hope about Tradarr.

Really hope they are on the 2017 bill.

Have yet to meet anyone who didn't enjoy them , (tempting fate there , since this is Talkawhile and nothing seems universally popular ).

Great to hear they are in a studio working on new material. Cautionary Tales is hardly ever out of the CD in my car. Particularly love Glenlogie
and Adieu, but its all fine for me.

Wouldn't it be easier if Sally and Jerry joined Fairport and they toured as a 7 piece? Then we could have a real review of the 50 years. Just saying.

Have been told the Winter tour support act does not automatically get a spot at the festival anymore.

I would be surprised if she didn't .

Without checking first, I may be incorrect (aging neurones...) but I seem to remember Sally being a charming star of the 1987 festival. I still have the CD and still play it occasionally.

Was certainly on the bill in 1989,but only know that because I have the festival poster about 2 foot away from me.

Wasn't June Tabor there in 1987 as well  Sleepy ? I'm sure that I was at one of the warm ups at the Half Moon Putney.

In which case, I prove my point about aging neurones. Many thanks for the polite correction :-)
