Further investigation reveals that they are a legitimate US re-issue label who have released vintage studio sets by Loudon Wainwright III, Blood Sweat & Tears and Mama Cass amongst many others and they are also responsible for the Dick's Picks range of Grateful Dead archive live albums which are officially sanctioned by the band so it does not sound as though they are into dodgy licensing. Quite the reverse in fact.
Edit: Have just noticed that they are also the label responsible for the recent excellent reissues of the McGough & McGear album and Nils Lofgren's solo debut.

I d o h o p e s o !  I had a 7" single of "Ballroom Blitz" that was definitely mastered at the wrong speed! Not quite "Pinky & Perky" vocals, but not far off! |

The trouble is with recordings like this, there isn't really a 'right' speed....there's an approximation of what it might be, but it's hardly a precise science. Just put 2 Deadheads in a room arguing about one of their old tape recordings that has just been digitised and see what happens... All our ears (and brains) are different. |

Sound doesn't come over well, admittedly on little laptop speakers... Mason's Apron as fast as I've ever heard it played! I don't think that's a pressing/recording problem, as the other songs appear to be at the right tempo.

The version of 'The Journeyman's Grace' on this album gets going faster than I'm used to as it goes along. Perhaps they had an especially high level of energy that evening. |

Sorry to double post but, having now listened, I can confirm (as somebody has already observed about an unofficial release of this material), it rocks! It is indeed the rockingest set ever released under the Fairport banner (imo but by some considerable distance). Shame it isnt longer. Shame there is no Sloth but in all other respects it is absolutely bloody great! |
