Yes, a polo shirt or sweatshirt with a subtle logo would be a great thing for the anniversary.

Why stop at a polo shirt?  Let's have matching jodhpurs!   Grin

Jules

And polo pony too?

There is a marketing opportunity here!
My little Fairport.
All action man sized characters with changeable clothing.

They would need to have changeable instruments too....

My little Fairport. All action man sized characters with changeable clothing.

Collect the whole set, what is it, 25 different characters? Then to extend the range a bit more we have 1967 Simon, 1980 Simon etc etc... All that's needed now is a hugely popular kids TV series to drive the sales in ToysRus...

Ok, let's think seriously.
We sell this through a magazine .
Each week you get some pics you already have, some stories you already know and some song lyrics you already know.
More importantly as a USP you get one part of a model each week Eg this week , Chris Leslie's fiddle arm.
After only 18 years and an expenditure  of £5,500 you have your complete Fairport set.
Please send an SAE to , 'whothehellbuysthesethings ltd' Fairport Towers , Cayman Islands.
Anyone want to invest?
See attached business model.

Getting back to a more serious (& obvious !) answer to the q, I very much imagine that the number one item on a fan's wish list would be a new compilation dvd, bringing together as many line-ups as posssible. YouTube has shown us how much material there is, and there has been nothing along these lines since "it all comes 'round again" in 1987.  But what are the chances of that happening ...

Going back to my original post, I've submitted my idea for a logo (via FB) to FC, who are going to forward it to Mick Toole. You never know...  Wink

I can't see them focussing on their 45th anniversary for their 50th anniversary.  Maybe an updated version of the cartoon though.

How about the return of the Scanty Panty?

But more seriously a decent commerative pewter tankard would be good.

Fourth'd. It seemed to take years for any songs from that album to get back into the rep, then when the whole piece was performed one evening at Croppers 2010, it was the first Festival I had missed for 14 years  Huh.

Tankard ? Definitely !

WKWTTG Watch ? Yeah, was skint the year the last few were available at the merc tent.
